Sydney Harbor Bridge opened to the public on March 19, 1932.
The ‘Coahanger’ was the brainchild of engineer John Bradfield, who spent 30 years rallying support for it and overseeing design and construction.
His grandson Peter Bradfield spoke with Witness History for the 90th anniversary of the bridge’s opening.
“He went through the war, he went through the depression (the Great Depression), and he still managed to get the support he needed to do it,” Peter said.
