London group Aethel Partners submit bid to buy Chelsea

Investment firm Aethel Partners is the latest group to say it has bid for Chelsea before Friday’s deadline.

Headed by Portuguese businessman Ricardo Silva, the London firm is committed to contributing 50 million pounds immediately.

That will serve as bridge funding to help alleviate the financial problems facing the club and to rebuild Stamford Bridge.

Several parties have already expressed interest in buying the Premier League club from Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.

His attempt to sell Chelsea was halted after he was sanctioned by the UK government.

That move came in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and Abramovich was understood to have strong ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
