A cameraman working for Fox News has been killed in Ukraine, the US network says.
Pierre Zakrzewski was killed and his colleague Benjamin Hall was injured when their vehicle was caught by fire on the outskirts of kyiv, a statement said.
Paying tribute, Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said that Zakrzewski’s “passion and talent as a journalist were unmatched.”
Hall remains in a hospital in Ukraine, Scott added.
“Pierre was a war zone photographer who covered nearly every international story for Fox News from Iraq to Afghanistan to Syria during his long tenure with us,” said Ms. Scott.
“Today is a heartbreaking day for Fox News Media and for all the journalists who risk their lives to break the news.
News that Mr. Hall was injured emerged on Monday, but Ms. Scott did not elaborate. On Monday, Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s interior minister, posted on Telegram that Hall was in serious condition.
Hall, 39, joined Fox News in 2015 and has been heavily involved in the network’s foreign affairs coverage.
He has covered several wars from the front lines, including in parts of the Middle East.
A dual American and British citizen, he completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in London.
Zakrzewski is the second journalist to be killed in Ukraine in two days. On Sunday, American journalist Brent Renaud was shot dead in the city of Irpin.
