Sally Kellerman, the award-winning film and television star, has died. It was 84.<\/p>\n

The actress died of heart failure at her home in Woodland Hills, California on Thursday morning, her spokeswoman Alan Eichler confirmed. People<\/em><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Kellermann is best known for her role as Major Margaret “Hot Lips” Hooligan in Director Robert Altman’s War Drama in 1970 “PULP.”<\/em> Her performance earned her an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe nomination.<\/p>\n

The welcome show at “PULP”<\/em> helped her move to the big screen from television, where she spent most of her career in the 1960s, with occasional film roles.<\/p>\n

She soon became a recurring collaborator with Altman, starring in “Brewster McCloud “<\/em> (1970), “The player” <\/em>(1992) and “Pr\u00eat-\u00e0-Porter”<\/em> (1994).<\/p>\n

Kellerman’s career spanned over 60 years, beginning with some minor television roles in the late 1950s. Throughout her career, she has appeared in more than 150 films and television shows, most notably Rodney’s classic comedy. Dangerfield “Back to school” (<\/em>1986), “The twilight zone<\/em>, Star Trek: The Original Series, Lost Horizon ” <\/em>(1973) and “Welcome to LA “<\/em> (1976).<\/p>\n

Most recently, she has had recurring roles in television series “Decker, Maron” <\/em>and “The young and the anxious<\/em>“, Among many others.<\/p>\n

In 1972, PULP<\/em> became a successful TV series that aired for 11 seasons. The show restructured the characters, with actress Loretta Swit taking on the role of Houlihan “Hot Lips”.<\/p>\n

Swit released a statement to ET on Thursday, recalling its connection to Kellerman.<\/p>\n

“Sally and I laughed at how much people preferred to think we were competitive or at odds with each other. The truth is we were such good friends and enjoyed confusing each other,” Swit shared. “I am just saddened by her death.”<\/p>\n

Kellerman was survived by her son, Jack, and her daughter, Claire.<\/p>\n
