Britain’s Tom Aspinall needed just one round to submit Russia’s Alexander Volkov at UFC London.<\/span><\/p>\n

The heavyweight stepped into the spotlight this week as the main attraction for the first time and scored the biggest win of his career.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aspinall, 28, is now eyeing a matchup with No. 3-ranked heavyweight Tai Tuivasa.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I’ve been telling you all week, I was born for this. I’m ready,” Aspinall said.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We drink beer in the UK, not just in Australia. Next time you’re in the UK, Mr Tai Tuivasa, let’s do it bro.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Aspinall has been tipped as a future UFC champion and showed no signs of jitters in his first UFC main event.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Manchester native faced an experienced contender in Russian Volkov, but was clinical in his approach and happy to compete on the ground.<\/span><\/p>\n

Volkov was in trouble with Aspinall up front and escaped a kimura attempt early on and got back to his feet. But Aspinall managed to drop Volkov again and this time he made no mistake securing a straight armbar.<\/span><\/p>\n
