A British man who flew to Poland to find a Ukrainian refugee he could take in is “waiting for the green light” to bring him to the UK.<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Max Fox, from Lancashire, said he wanted to find someone he would be happy to share his home with.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She has sent an application after meeting a Ukrainian named Vlad.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“In the meantime, I will keep him in a hotel…since the government has not given a deadline for how long.” [the outcome] it will take,” Fox said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    Fox, 32, who lives with her husband in Poulton-le-Fylde, arrived in Poland on Thursday, where she also distributed food to refugees fleeing the Russian invasion.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    He said he wanted to take in a refugee he could “freeze” with, adding: “I want to bring someone into my home who I have a good relationship with.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    Fox, artistic director of a group of hotels in Blackpool, first contacted Vlad, 26, online and met him in the Polish city of Krakow on Friday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    “He was in Poland when the [Ukraine] government enforced compulsory military service,” Fox said, referring to the policy that most men between the ages of 18 and 60 are not allowed to leave the war-torn country as they must join the resistance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    “So he hasn’t been able to go back and see his parents who live out west [of Ukraine]. They are too afraid to leave.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    He said he was glad to meet Vlad before he left for the UK.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    \n

    “It’s been exciting but stressful at the same time,” he added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    Fox said he and Vlad hoped to create a website to link Ukrainian refugees with British residents to help others in a similar situation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
