British qualifier Harriet Dart lost in straight sets to American Madison Keys in the fourth round in Indian Wells.<\/span><\/p>\n

Keys, an Australian Open semifinalist, won 6-1, 6-4 against Dart, who is ranked 122nd in the world, in California.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dart, 25, is on course to break into the world’s top 100 for the first time after breaking into the last 16.<\/span><\/p>\n

The keys will clash <\/span>Iga Swiatek<\/strong> in the quarterfinals, after the third-seeded Poland came back from a set down to defeat Germany’s Angelique Kerber 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dart missed a break point in the first game of the contest and that proved to be his only chance as 25th-seeded Keys ran away with the opening set.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Briton survived break points in the first and fifth games as she looked to force a deciding set, but the 27-year-old Keys broke loveless 5-4 before serving out the match.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also in Tuesday’s women’s draw, Romania’s two-time Grand Slam champion <\/span>Simona Halep<\/strong> she defeated her compatriot Sorana Cirstea in straight sets, winning 6-1 6-4.<\/span><\/p>\n

Halep will meet <\/span>petra martic<\/strong> – who knocked out <\/span>British number one Emma Raducanu<\/span> on Sunday, in the quarterfinals, after the victory of the Croatian 7-6 (8-6) 6-4 against the Russian Ludmilla Samsonova.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the men’s draw, sixth Italian seed <\/span>Matthew Berrettini <\/strong>beat Lloyd Harris of South Africa 6-4 7-5 to set up a fourth round meeting with Serbia <\/span>Myomir Kecmanovic<\/strong>who beat Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp 7-6 (7-3) 7-5.<\/span><\/p>\n

American 20th seed<\/span> taylor fritz<\/strong> defeated the Spanish Jaume Munar 6-4 2-6 7-6 (7-2) and will face <\/span>Alex de Minaur<\/strong> then after the Australian beat American Tommy Paul 7-6 (7-2) 6-4.<\/span><\/p>\n

Defending British Men’s Champion Cameron Norrie <\/span>advanced to last 16<\/span> on Monday. He plays American Jenson Brooksby on Wednesday.<\/span><\/p>\n
