SpaceX founder and billionaire Elon Musk provides free satellite Internet service in Ukraine through Starlink’s company as Russia invades the country and causes power outages.
Starlink is a growing network of small satellites that was SpaceX manufactured from 2018 to provide broadband Internet access worldwide. On Monday, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, uploaded to Twitter that a truck full of Starlink terminals had arrived in Ukraine after requesting them.

Fedorov had appealed to Musk in a tweet On Saturday, he asked him to extend Starlink high-speed broadband internet services to the besieged country, rhetorically noting that “as you try to colonize Mars – Russia tries to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets land successfully from space – the Russians “Missiles are attacking Ukrainian civilians!”

Musk apparently agreed, tweeting on Saturday that the Starlink service was active in Ukraine and also agreed to send more Starlink terminals to expand the country’s bandwidth.

Russian invading troops have disrupted Ukraine’s Internet infrastructure, rendering the service unreliable and unreliable in parts of the country.
