Boy, 12, denies burglary spree of top London hotels

A 12-year-old boy has denied committing a 10-month spree at some of London’s best hotels.

The boy, whose name cannot be identified for legal reasons, is charged with 14 counts of theft, including at Claridge’s in Mayfair, the Four Seasons on Park Lane and the Corinthia Hotel in Whitehall.

His 13-year-old brother, whose name also cannot be identified, is accused of involvement in three of the robberies.

The couple pleaded not guilty to all charges before Westminster magistrates.

Due to their age, the brothers, from west London, were accompanied by their mother on the dock.

The 12-year-old boy is also charged with one count of conspiracy to commit robbery during the alleged bender, between April 2021 and February of this year.

His brother is charged with three counts of robbery between September 2021 and February of this year and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery between April 2021 and February of this year.

An adult co-defendant, Shane McCarthy, 19, faces 11 counts, nine counts of robbery, one count of robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery between April 2021 and February of this year. He also denies all charges.

His case has been sent to Isleworth Crown Court, where he is due to appear on April 14.

Magistrate Alan Elias released him on unconditional bail until then.

The boys were released on bail until March 28, when they will appear at Highbury Corner Juvenile Court.
