Emiliano Sala overcome by toxic fumes before fatal plane crash

A jury has declared that soccer player Emiliano Sala died as a result of a plane crash after being overcome by toxic gases.

Sala and pilot David Ibbotson died when the plane they were flying crashed into the English Channel in 2019.

The 28-year-old was flying to Wales from France to join Cardiff City from Nantes.

David Henderson, who organized the flight, received an 18-month prison sentence for aviation crimes related to the organization of the flight.

The jury concluded that he died in the crash after being overcome by toxic levels of carbon monoxide from the aircraft’s faulty exhaust system during unlicensed commercial flight.

During the investigation, Dorset Coroner’s Court was told that Henderson had previously been investigated for illegal flights on public transport, but was not monitored after the initial investigation.
